Ghana is bracing for thunderstorms and heavy rain today as a band of rain-bearing clouds over southern Benin moves westward into the country.
The Ghana Meteorological Agency has indicated that these clouds are expected to affect several coastal and inland areas from the morning through the afternoon, bringing varying intensities of rainfall and thunderstorms.
The southern parts of the country, including Accra, Aflao, Kasoa, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Axim, Ho, Koforidua, Akim Oda, Kumasi, Obuasi, and Tarkwa, are likely to experience cloudy skies, with localized thunderstorms or showers developing as the day progresses.
Coastal areas, in particular, may see intermittent heavy rainfall, while some inland locations could experience sporadic thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the northern regions are expected to remain fairly dry, although slight haze is predicted to reduce visibility in some areas. Early morning mist and fog may also impact forested and hilly regions, potentially affecting travel and road safety.
The Meteorological Agency has also forecasted relatively cool night temperatures in the upper regions, providing some relief amid the generally warm conditions of the day.
The state of the sea is calm.
However, residents are advised to exercise caution, particularly in areas prone to flooding, and to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain or thunderstorms.
