Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum will remain head coach of Ghana’s U-17 national team after signing a fresh two-year contract with the Black Starlets.
The former Asante Kotoko SC coach, who succeeded Frimpong Manso, has quickly made an impact, guiding the team to qualification for the 2026 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for April.
Speaking after signing the new deal, Dr. Ogum expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and outlined his vision for the team.
“I am grateful to the Ghana Football Association for the trust and stability this contract provides. Our focus is clear: to build a technically sound, tactically disciplined, and mentally strong team capable of competing at the highest level in Africa. We are not just preparing for a tournament; we are building a foundation for the future of Ghana football,” he told GFA Communications.
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Dr. Ogum also serves as Head of Education at the Ghana Football Association, highlighting his strong commitment to youth development and structured technical growth.
His résumé includes leading Asante Kotoko to the 2022 Ghana Premier League title, guiding WAFA to a second-place finish, managing Ebusua Dwarfs, and serving as assistant coach of the Black Galaxies.
With preparations underway for the continental tournament, Dr. Ogum is focused on shaping a disciplined and competitive squad capable of making a significant impact on the African stage.
