A private investment company, Medeiz Limited, has launched a multi-billion dollar project dubbed the Alkebulan City Ghana Development Project, aiming to promote development and drive the African continent’s economy in all sectors.
The Project is situated at Agave Dzebetato in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region and is expected to create some 2 million jobs, decongest the national capital, Accra and promote industrialisation.
The Alkebulan City Ghana Development Project would see a smart city constructed a 2,000-acre land acquired in the country side in the countryside community of Agavedzi.
It is planned to have all the elements of a modern city, which include an ultramodern school, from creche to university, a sporting facility, and a hospital with a helicopter emergency service.
Others include a mini airport, industrial zone, energy plants, cultural centre, cyber security centre, hospitality facilities, luxury residential apartments, among others.
The Founder of Mediez Limited, Dr. Delorn Mediez, said the project is designed to curb migration to the Western world, aiming to contribute to building a self-reliant African continent.
“I left Ghana when I was 10 years old and I lived in some kind of conditions that I don’t want my brothers to experience [when they travel outside the country]”, he said.
He said the project would serve as a conduit for other Africans in the diaspora to join in developing Ghana and Africa and ultimately contribute to “raising the economy of the continent.”
He disclosed that the move also aims at enhancing infrastructure development in the Volta Region, “which had lacked development and was abandoned but has a lot of land.”
He said that it would also have a component of the 24-hour economy policy and pleased with the government to lend support towards the documentation and execution of the project.
“I am appealing to the government to help with all documentation needed, all the permits and whatever is needed; they should facilitate it for us to be able to accomplish what we have for Ghana”, he said.
He added that a catalogue of contractors from the West African Sub-region would put their expertise to bear in developing the project, with support from partners from across the globe.
“We will officially inaugurate the project in 2030”, he concluded.
The Chief Executive Officer of BlueGates Global, a Nigerian Real Estate development firm, underscored the project is laudable one and just be given the needed push to see it to fruition.
He entreated the government, private sector and the traditional rulers among others to come together and give the necessary supports to the project.
“This is a project that will house over 509,000 families and over two million jobs, thjlink about that. It is going to be crazy, I think it is a project that should be given a chance”, he stressed.
The Paramount Chief of Agave, Togbega Gadagbe Hlitabo IV, entreated the project coordinators to ensure its completion.
He said his kin would keenly monitor the project and give opportunity to locals to participate in the building of the modern city.
He threatened that the landowners would not hesitate to take back the lands if the project isn’t going on as expected.
