A prison officer, Constant Clement Tei Gyabah, has been found dead in River Pompo in the Obuasi East District of the Ashanti Region.

His lifeless body was discovered alongside his motorbike on Wednesday, July 30.

According to a report by Citi News, the officer was commuting to work around 5:00 am during a light drizzle when the incident occurred. He is believed to have veered off the road and crashed into a concrete barricade installed as a pedestrian safety feature along the river.

However, some residents suspect foul play, suggesting the officer may have been struck by a vehicle, citing visible cuts on his body.

Police retrieved the body and deposited it at the morgue. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

The Ghana Prisons Service has yet to issue an official statement on Constable Gyabah’s death.
