President John Dramani Mahama has announced that his administration will appoint new Ministers for Defence and Environment next year, following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

Addressing the Ghana Muslim Mission at the Presidency in Accra, President Mahama dismissed widespread speculation on social media regarding possible nominees. He urged Ghanaians to remain supportive as government works to ensure a smooth and stable transition.

At present, the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, is serving as Acting Minister for Defence, while Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who also oversees the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, is acting as Minister for Environment.

President Mahama noted that despite the temporary nature of these acting roles, his government continues to operate efficiently. He assured the public that substantive appointments for both ministries will be made next year.
