President John Dramani Mahama has nominated five individuals for appointment to Ghana’s Fiscal Council in line with Section 11D of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), as amended.
The nominations, announced on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, aim to strengthen fiscal discipline and enhance oversight in public financial management.
The nominees are:
- Dr. Emmanuel Oteng Kumah – Chairperson
- Prof. Patrick Opoku Asuming – Representative from academia
- Leslie Dwight Mensah – Representative from a research think tank
- J. Kweku Bedu-Addo – Former public policy expert from the Ministry responsible for Finance
- Dr. Henry Akpenamawu Kofi Wampah – Former public policy expert from the Bank of Ghana
According to the Presidency, the Fiscal Council will play a key role in promoting fiscal prudence and guiding sound decision-making in the management of public finances.
