Present new flagbearer in 2028 as sign of remorse – EPA Deputy CEO to NPP

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Prof. Michael Ayamga-Adongo, has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to field a new presidential candidate in the 2028 general elections as an act of remorse for what he described as the poor governance record under former President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Speaking on Accra-based Channel One TV, Prof. Ayamga-Adongo said the NPP must engage in honest reflection and acknowledge the economic difficulties and social hardships Ghanaians endured during its administration by offering new leadership that signals genuine change.

“The NPP ought to take Ghanaians seriously and present a new candidate that shows they have done some introspection and realised the harm they caused,” he stated.

Addressing the issue of illegal mining, Prof. Ayamga-Adongo admitted that the problem persists but assured that the John Mahama administration is determined to restore the country’s water bodies and forest reserves.

“Given the effort we are putting in to reset the economy and deal ruthlessly with galamsey, I can assure you that before the next elections, the NPP will be too ashamed to use galamsey as a campaign tool against the NDC,” he added.
