The quiet farming community of Yawusukrom in the Dormaa West District of the Bono Region has been thrown into mourning after the lifeless body of a 33-year-old pregnant woman, identified only as Haiga, was discovered on her farm under mysterious circumstances.

According to local sources, the tragic incident occurred on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

The deceased, who was reportedly seven to eight months pregnant, had gone to her farm earlier in the day to harvest okro but never returned home.

After several hours without hearing from her, her worried husband sent someone to check on her whereabouts. The search party later found her body in the farm, sparking shock and fear throughout the community.

The Nkrankwanta Police were immediately notified and arrived at the scene between 11:00 p.m. and midnight to retrieve the body for further examination and investigation.

Though the police are yet to confirm the cause of death, unverified reports suggest that Haiga may have been killed by unknown assailants. The disturbing nature of the discovery has left residents frightened and demanding swift justice.

The police have since launched a full-scale investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and to apprehend those responsible.

Meanwhile, the incident has cast a dark cloud over Yawusukrom, as residents express grief and anger over the loss of a young expectant mother described by neighbors as hardworking and peaceful.

Community members have appealed to the security services to intensify patrols in the area to ensure the safety of women who frequently work alone on their farms.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Nkrankwanta Government Hospital morgue for autopsy as investigations continue.
