A new tracking poll by Global InfoAnalytics indicates that National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, is marginally ahead of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in a potential 2028 presidential showdown.
According to the survey, Asiedu Nketia enjoys the support of 50% of respondents, while Dr. Bawumia garners 45%. Another 5% indicated they would back a different candidate.
The results point to a closely contested race, with the NDC leader holding a slim five-point lead over the 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer.
Analysts say the findings highlight the evolving dynamics of Ghana’s political landscape, as both the governing NPP and the opposition NDC begin early preparations for the 2028 elections.
Global InfoAnalytics noted that the narrow margin underscores the likelihood of a fiercely contested race should this matchup materialize.
