A 26-year-old police officer, Lance Corporal Owusu Asante, and two civilians have been arraigned before the Berekum Circuit Court in connection with a suspected robbery incident.
The civilians, identified as Wilson Osei Danquah, a boutique operator from Abuakwa in Kumasi, and Muftawu Salusu, a fuel station attendant, are believed to have acted in collaboration with the soldier.
According to the prosecutor, Chief Inspector John Kwakye Brobbey, Lance Corporal Asante, who is stationed at Techiman Tanoso, allegedly conspired with the two civilians to commit the crime.
He told the court that on June 15, 2025, the three stormed the residence of one Ajara Kramo, suspected of dealing in narcotics, at Amangoase, a suburb of Berekum.
The suspects reportedly threatened the woman with a fake pistol and made away with an undisclosed sum of money.
They have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime, robbery, and unlawful possession of illicit drugs.
The court has since remanded all three suspects into police custody to assist with further investigations.
The case has been adjourned to July 2, 2025.
