Calm has been restored at Larteh Ahenease in the Eastern Region after a heated confrontation between two factions disrupted celebrations during the Ahenease Odwira Festival on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
The disturbance reportedly broke out as members of the two factions became involved in a confrontation, creating tension in the town and disrupting the festival activities.
The Eastern Regional Police Command has since moved in to restore calm and prevent the situation from escalating.
In a statement, the Command said additional police personnel had been deployed to Larteh to intensify security and maintain peace and order in the community.
The police presence is expected to remain heightened as the festival activities continue, with officers tasked with ensuring that residents, visitors and participants can go about their activities safely.
The Command said it is also engaging key stakeholders in the community as part of efforts to resolve the tensions and prevent further disturbances.
The police have cautioned individuals against actions that could threaten public peace, warning that anyone found breaching the peace will face firm action in accordance with the law.
The Eastern Regional Police Command said it remains committed to ensuring that the situation in Larteh remains calm while working with all relevant stakeholders to preserve peace in the area.
