The Central Regional Police Command has restored calm following a violent clash between youth from Ekumfi Eyisam and Mankessim at the Shell fuel station in Mankessim, which left one person injured.

In a statement, the Police said the incident occurred on Friday, January 3, 2026, at about 7:20 p.m., after a distress call was received regarding a fight involving a group of young men at the fuel station.

The Mankessim night patrol team was immediately deployed to the scene. However, upon arrival, the youth involved fled after pelting stones at each other and dispersed upon sighting the police.

According to preliminary information gathered by the Police, earlier in the day at about 2:00 p.m., youth from Ekumfi Eyisam had attended a wedding in Mankessim. During the event, they received reports that one of their colleagues had been attacked and beaten by some Mankessim youth at the Accra lorry station while searching for transport to Eyisam.

After the wedding, the Eyisam youth reportedly moved to the Accra lorry station to confront the alleged attacker. A person was identified to them as the suspect, prompting a chase into a nearby chicken shop close to the Shell fuel station. In the process, one of the glass doors at the shop was broken before the group retreated.

The situation escalated when some Mankessim youth also rushed to the scene, resulting in a stone-throwing confrontation between the two groups. The clash was disrupted when police arrived, causing both sides to flee.

One person, identified only as Wisdom, sustained injuries and was rushed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, where he is responding to treatment.

Police said calm has since been restored, and the area was monitored throughout the night to prevent any further disturbances.
