The Ghana Police Service has rescued a young woman seen in a viral video with a severe eye injury crying for help, and has arrested her alleged abuser.
According to a police statement, the IGP’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team launched an immediate intelligence-led operation after the video surfaced online.
The team traced the victim and the suspect to Okushibri near Apollonia, where the woman was found distressed and injured.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, Bright Kpodo, popularly known as Horror, had physically assaulted the victim, who is also his partner.
Kpodo is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while arrangements are being made to provide medical and psychosocial support to the victim.
The Police Service has urged the public to promptly report incidents of domestic violence to enable swift intervention and prosecution.
