The Bono Regional Police Command has denied claims in a viral video alleging a robbery on the Berekum–Drobo Road on November 18, stating that preliminary checks show no such incident occurred.

According to the Command, investigations so far indicate that no robbery report has been lodged in connection with the alleged incident.

The circulating video, which suggested an attack on travellers by armed men, has caused widespread concern, but police say there is no evidence to support the claim.

Checks conducted across police stations in the Bono Region and nationwide, as well as inquiries with the Ghana Armed Forces, revealed no record of any robbery on the stated date.

“The preliminary checks, both locally and nationally, have shown that there have been no reports of a robbery in the area on the specified date,” the statement noted.

In a release issued on November 20, the police urged anyone with credible information regarding the claim to contact the nearest station, stressing that accurate details are crucial for proper investigations.

The Service also disclosed that its Cyber Crime Unit has begun tracking the source of the video, warning that individuals found spreading false information will face legal action.

The Command encouraged the public to verify claims before sharing content online, noting that unverified reports can create unnecessary fear and disrupt public order.
