The Bono Regional Police Command has interdicted several officers following the circulation of a video on social media allegedly showing them receiving money from motorists.
In a statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the implicated officers have been identified and temporarily withdrawn from active duty to allow for a transparent and thorough investigation.
“The Command assures the public of its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability among its personnel,” the statement said.
The video, which has sparked widespread public concern, appears to show uniformed officers accepting money from drivers at what seems to be a roadside checkpoint.
Although the exact location and date of the incident are yet to be confirmed, police officials say efforts are underway to verify the authenticity of the footage and determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged act.
The interdictions form part of ongoing reforms within the Ghana Police Service aimed at strengthening discipline and rebuilding public trust in law enforcement.
