Police intercept trucks carrying 150 sacks of suspected Indian Hemp

The Eastern Regional Police Command on Thursday intercepted two Howo Sino tipper trucks loaded with 150 sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

The trucks, with registration numbers GN 993-14 and GG 3674-20, had the suspected substances concealed beneath heaps of sand at Apesua, near Nkurakan.

This was contained in a press statement issued by Superintendent of Police Ebenezer Tetteh of the Regional Police Command’s Public Affairs Unit and copied to the Ghana News Agency.

According to the statement, two suspects, who were the drivers of the tipper trucks, have been arrested and are assisting police with investigations. Their names have been withheld for now.

“The general public will be updated in due course,” the statement added.
