
A swift response from the Obuasi Divisional Command of the Ghana Police Service has foiled a robbery attempt along the Tutuka-Akrofuom road in Obuasi, resulting in the arrest of one suspect.
According to preliminary details, the Police received a distress call about suspicious activity in the area.
Upon arrival, the responding team encountered a gang of armed robbers who fled into the bush, abandoning two unregistered motorbikes and a machete at the scene.
The Police pursued the suspects into the bush and succeeded in arresting one of them, identified as Pascal Yenkye.
The suspect, who attempted to escape on a motorbike, was shot in the leg during the operation.
He is currently receiving medical treatment under police guard, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the gang.
