Police caution against live ammunition use during Ga State celebrations

The Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against the use of live ammunition during the lifting of the ban on drumming and noise-making, taking place today at Gbese Blohum and Abola within the Ga State.

In a statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs, the Command expressed concern over a growing trend in which some revellers—particularly the youth—have abandoned the use of traditional blank musketry in favour of dangerous live rounds.

The police, in collaboration with the Gbese Mantse, have strongly advised celebrants to refrain from firing live ammunition during this year’s festivities. Anyone found violating this directive will be arrested and prosecuted.

The Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and incident-free celebration, working closely with traditional authorities and event organizers to maintain public order.

Residents and participants have been urged to adhere strictly to all safety protocols, cooperate with security personnel deployed to the event grounds, and report any suspicious activity by calling emergency numbers 18555 or 112.

The Police also extended their best wishes to the Ga people as they commemorate this important cultural occasion.
