The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a violent motorbike snatching incident at Sibakon Down near Comet Estate, following weeks of intelligence-led investigations.

The prime suspect, Kwabla Egblorgbe Gadoglo Mohammed, also known as “Moha,” 31, was tracked and arrested at his hideout in Afienya on February 13, 2026, nearly a month after the robbery.

Police investigations revealed that Mohammed and an accomplice, who was later lynched by an angry mob, hired the services of an okada rider, Muntari Zakari, from Kwabenya under the pretext of a routine trip to Sibakon Hospital on January 18, 2026.

Upon reaching Sibakon Down, the suspects allegedly attacked the rider with a locally manufactured pistol and a stone. They robbed him of his iPhone 13 Pro and demanded the keys to his unregistered Royal motorbike.

The victim raised an alarm during the attack, drawing the attention of nearby residents. The intervention led to the lynching of one of the suspects, while Mohammed reportedly fled the scene with the stolen phone.

A search conducted at Mohammed’s residence in Abokobi uncovered several items believed to be linked to criminal activity, including a cutter, two pairs of scissors, two hammers, a hacksaw, a cutlass, a jack knife, a saw and three mobile phones.

Further investigations led to the arrest of a second suspect, Kwame Accolor, alias “Small Kidi,” 37, at Anyako in the Volta Region. Police say he allegedly purchased the stolen iPhone 13 Pro from Mohammed for GH¢800.

Authorities are currently working to retrieve the locally manufactured pistol allegedly used in the robbery.

Both suspects have been arraigned before court. Mohammed, who pleaded guilty to robbery, is awaiting sentencing, which has been deferred to March 10, 2026.

The Eastern Regional Police Command says it remains committed to intensifying intelligence-led operations to combat violent crime and ensure public safety.
