The Ghana Police Service has arrested 10 suspected armed robbers in a coordinated operation across the Ashanti, Central, and Sunyani regions.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno disclosed that the gang had been targeting rural banks but were tracked down after extensive intelligence analysis.
Those arrested include Akwasi Adjie, David Obuobi, and Samuel Akwasi Djdan. However, another suspect, Kwabena Owusu Ansah, believed to be part of the network, is still on the run.
Describing the arrests as a “major breakthrough,” the IGP said the operation demonstrates the police’s commitment to strengthening public safety.
The suspects were paraded at the Police Headquarters before being transferred in a Black Maria.
Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Lydia Yaako Donkor, confirmed that 12 firearms—including some previously stolen from slain officers—were retrieved during the operation. She added that significant sums of money were also recovered.
All 10 suspects are expected to be arraigned before court in the coming days.
