The Ghana Police Service has announced extensive security arrangements across the country to ensure a safe and incident-free celebration of this year’s Easter festivities.

In a press release issued by the Public Affairs Directorate on April 2, 2026, the Service indicated that comprehensive measures have been put in place to protect lives and property during the period.

“The Ghana Police Service wishes to inform the general public that robust security measures have been put in place to ensure a safe, peaceful, and incident free celebration of this year’s Easter festivities,” the statement said.

According to the Police, personnel have been deployed nationwide, with particular attention to areas expected to attract large crowds, including the Kwahu enclave, event grounds, recreational centres, and major tourist destinations.

“Police personnel have been deployed across all key locations across the country especially within the Kwahu enclave including event grounds, recreational centres, and known tourist sites as well as other areas expected to experience high human and vehicular traffic,” the release noted.

The Service also revealed that patrols have been intensified, with additional operational teams stationed along major routes to enhance safety and manage traffic flow.

“The Service has also intensified patrols and operational teams have been detailed along major routes leading to and from Kwahu to enhance security and ensure public safety. Motor traffic personnel have also been deployed to manage traffic and minimise congestion throughout the period,” it added.

Beyond visible policing, authorities say intelligence-led operations are ongoing to detect and prevent potential criminal activity.

“Additionally, intelligence operations have been activated across the country to prevent and respond swiftly to any criminal activity,” the statement said.

The Police further called on the public to support the efforts by adhering to safety guidelines and cooperating with officers on duty.

“We urge the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security personnel, and adhere to all safety guidelines. Motorists are urged to observe road traffic regulations, avoid excessive speeding, refrain from drunk driving and take directions from our officers to ensure safety on our roads,” the Service cautioned.

Citizens were also encouraged to prioritise personal safety and promptly report any suspicious activity.

“We also encourage all patrons to be mindful of their personal safety and belongings and report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police officer or Police station,” the statement added.

The Police Service assured Ghanaians of its commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the festive period.

“The Ghana Police Service wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable Easter and assures the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the festivities,” it concluded.
