Hearts of Oak icon Charles Taylor has taken a swipe at the club’s current squad, describing their performance as unconvincing after Wednesday’s shock exit from the MTN FA Cup.

The Phobians were stunned 1-0 by Division Two outfit True Life FC in the Round of 64 clash at the Kpobiman Training Centre, a result that deepened frustrations among supporters.

Speaking on Angel FM, Taylor urged the team to raise their standards, insisting the level of commitment displayed is far below what Hearts of Oak has been known for.

He went as far as suggesting that players should only be paid after delivering results on the pitch.

“We were very serious during our time,” Taylor said.

“Even at training, my own teammate threatened to foul me badly if I didn’t stop dribbling him.

“These current Hearts players should be placed on a match-before-salary basis,” he added.

Hearts of Oak now shift focus to the Ghana Premier League as they prepare for a Matchday 13 fixture against Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Sunday.
