Irate youth in Agona Swedru in the Central region are on rampage following the appointment District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.

The youth clad in red hit the streets to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the choice of the president as his executive presence in the area.

According to Adom News’ Kofi Adjei, security in the area has been beefed up to prevent the angry youth from vandalizing any state property.

The chaos is part of mixed reactions towards the release of 212 names for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives.

‘It is obvious that only one person can occupy that position’ Local Government minister Hajia Alima told a press conference during the announcement of the nominations.

These are people with expertise, experience, and temperament for the position” she said.

But the youth maintained that the nominee did not contribute to the NPP’s victory in the 2016 general elections.

Also, there is chaos on streets of Savelugu and Sagnarigu as NPP faithful attack party properties in protests against the President DCE nominees for the areas.

However, the situation was different at Sawla-Tuna-Kalba in the Northern region. The supporters expressed their profound gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for the appointment of Lawal Tamimu as the District Chief Executive for Sawla.
