Some members of the public have demonstrated in the capital, Accra, over what they describe as ever increasing fuel prices in spite of promises made by the ruling government to make the price of the commodity affordable.
The demonstration which was organized by the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) in collaboration with the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) was to force the government to reduce taxes on petroleum products.
The demonstrators carried placards that read, “Stop the galamsaying in our pockets”; “88% taxes is too much”; “Mr. President Why?”; “Drivers, Y’anu Yeho”, among others.
