Two people, who allegedly posed as workers of Power Distribution Services (PDS), are in the grip of the Kyebi Divisional Police command in the Eastern region after they disconnected power supply at Teacher Mante in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern region.
The suspects were identified as Okai Samuel, 26, a student of Coaltar Senior High School and Prince Owusu Ansah, 27, also a student of Accra Technical University.
The Eastern regional Public Relations Officer of PDS, Mary Eshun, who confirmed the incident to Adom News, said the two were put before court on Friday.
“The Kibi Magistrate Court has remanded the two suspects into police custody and they are set to reappear on September 21,” he said.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News, the residents disclosed they apprehended the suspects and handed them over to the police after suspecting them of being imposters.
“They disconnected power supply to the homes of customers who had defaulted in the payment of their bills and refused to give them an undisclosed amount of money they requested and completely removed the postpaid meters of customers,” the residents said.
