The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has held a strategic meeting with key industry players and the 24-Hour Economy Authority to deliberate on the pilot implementation of government’s 24-hour economy programme within Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.

The meeting, held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, was chaired by the Chief Executive of the NPA, Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, and brought together senior management of the Authority and representatives from major petroleum industry institutions.

The NPA delegation included Deputy Chief Executives Dr. Sheila Addo and Dr. Dramani Bukari, alongside directors and heads of key departments responsible for human resources, corporate affairs, consumer services, and economic regulation.

Also present were representatives from the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD), and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), as well as officials from the Ghana Police Service and National Security.

Addressing participants, Mr Tameklo reaffirmed the NPA’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and effective rollout of the 24-hour economy initiative in the petroleum sector.

He noted that the Authority is working closely with stakeholders to put in place the necessary regulatory, operational, and safety frameworks to support continuous fuel distribution and service delivery.

He emphasised that the downstream petroleum sector plays a critical role in powering economic activities, and its readiness is essential to the success of the broader 24-hour economy agenda..

The engagement forms part of ongoing consultations aimed at aligning industry operations with government’s vision of expanding economic productivity, improving service accessibility, and creating more employment opportunities through round-the-clock commercial activity.

The pilot phase is expected to guide full-scale implementation, ensuring that petroleum supply chains, retail outlets, and storage facilities are adequately prepared to support continuous operations nationwide
