A reunion between two veterans of West Africa’s film industry has turned into a touching show of friendship, as Nigerian acting legend Pete Edochie met Ghanaian screen veteran Emmanuel Armah and offered financial assistance towards his upkeep.

Edochie, who is in Ghana for the launch of his Legacy Project, took time out of his schedule to check on Armah, who has been away from the screen for years following a debilitating stroke.

During their meeting, Edochie presented Armah with cash to support his needs and later handed over an additional amount he had previously received as gift.

Beyond the financial support, Edochie used the visit to draw attention to Armah’s condition and urged the public to remember the veteran actor in their prayers.

Armah has been away from active acting for several years following a stroke that affected his mobility and speech. He now uses a wheelchair and requires assistance in his daily life.

Despite his absence from the screen, Armah remains a respected figure in Ghana’s film industry, particularly for his contribution to the early years of Ghana-Nigeria movie collaborations.

The two actors also share a longstanding friendship that dates back to the period when they worked together on several productions in Nigeria.

The visit was therefore more than a courtesy call. It was an opportunity to reconnect with an old colleague and friend while offering practical support at a difficult period in Armah’s life.

The gesture has also renewed attention to the need to support veteran actors whose contributions to the growth of the film industry often continue to be remembered long after they leave the screen.
