Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans has reiterated its commitment to invest in the promotion of a clean and green sustainable environment in basic schools across the country after hosting the 2025 edition of the Jan Binder Awards in the Ashanti region.
The program recognizes and motivates basic schools nationwide that demonstrate outstanding commitment to maintaining clean, green, and healthy learning environments.
Peaceland School was crowned the “Most Clean and Green School,” with Huggy Royal School and Bright Beginning School securing second and third place respectively.

The initiative was organized by Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans in partnership with Opportunity International Germany.
Educational Coordinator for Private Schools in Atwima Nwabiagya District, Lydia Asante Frimpong, stressed that fostering such environments in schools is a critical step toward broader climate sustainability.
Chief Programs Officer of Sinapi Aba, Joyce OwusuDabo, urged schools to persist in their efforts, linking daily practices to the global fight against climate change.

She honored the legacy of Martha Binder, whose annual fundraising cycling tour in Germany sustains the awards in memory of her son, Jan.
Accepting the top award, Mr. Evans Nkrumah, Proprietor of Peaceland School, thanked Sinapi Aba, noting that the recognition would further inspire the winning schools to expand their environmental stewardship.
The awards focus on basic schools to instill environmental consciousness early. Evaluation criteria include clean classrooms, proper waste disposal, hygienic toilet facilities, clean compounds with handwashing stations, and verdant surroundings.

Honoring a Legacy
The Jan Binder Awards commemorate a young German environmental advocate, Jan Binder, who was passionate about creating ecofriendly schools in underserved communities.
Following his passing, his mother, Martha Binder, established the annual fundraiser that continues his mission, turning personal tribute into a lasting force for environmental change.
