
The Parliamentary Service of Ghana has announced that the official launch of the second edition of the annual Democracy Cup football match will take place on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
The launch ceremony will be held at the Justice D.F. Annan Auditorium within Parliament House in Accra, starting at 3:00 p.m.
The event will be spearheaded by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
During the launch, organisers are expected to unveil the two teams that will face off in this year’s highly anticipated fixture.
A statement issued by Parliament’s Media Relations Department indicated that the ceremony will also reveal key details about the match, which is scheduled to take place in August 2025.
First introduced in 2024, the Democracy Cup is a football initiative championed by Ghana’s Parliament to foster civic engagement and strengthen national unity through sports.
The maiden edition, held on July 17, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium, saw Asante Kotoko defeat Hearts of Oak in a memorable contest.
