The parents of the couple who cursed each other over GH¢20.00 leading to their demise last Thursday have been fined by the traditional rulers of Assin Andoe in the Assin South District of the Central region.
The parents were fined GH¢700.00, two goats, two bottles of schnapps and two crates of minerals for ancestral sacrifice to purify the land.
In an interview with Adom News, the queen of Assin Andoe and Adontenhemaa of Apemanim Traditional Area, said it was a taboo for anybody to curse in the area for whatever reason, hence the need for the fine to appease the gods.
“We have given them up to one week to provide all the items for purification in order to avert any further consequences,” she stated.
The couple – Emmanuel Botwey and Rita Nketia – were struck to death by thunder in their farm at Assin Andoe Sibo Nkwanta in the Assin South District of the Central region.

Father of the deceased wife, Agya Yaw Mensah, who witnessed the incident, in an interview revealed his daughter confessed they both cursed each other with thunder before she died.
“The couple had a little misunderstanding over missing GH¢20.00 from their joint savings meant for their land acquisition and in the process cursed themselves with the thunder which we believe caused their demise,” he revealed.
