Over 20 displaced as fire destroys wooden structures and church building at Konongo

More than 20 people have been displaced following a fire outbreak that destroyed several wooden structures and a church building at Konongo in the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening and affected structures that served as residences for some occupants in the area.

The blaze also destroyed properties and personal belongings belonging to members of New Life Pentecostal Ministry, as well as container shops belonging to traders operating in the vicinity.

Several wooden structures in the area were completely burnt before personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service from the Ejisu Command arrived at the scene.

The firefighters responded swiftly and managed to bring the situation under control to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the Konongo Newtown Electoral Area, Nana Kofi Gyau, speaking to Adom News, called for support for victims who lost their belongings in the fire.

He also urged residents to observe fire safety measures to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
