Benjamin Asare

Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has reiterated the team’s ultimate goal of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana currently lead Group I in the qualifiers with 15 points from six matches. The four-time African champions will regroup in September for crucial Matchday 7 and 8 encounters against Chad and Mali.

Speaking to the media, the Hearts of Oak shot-stopper emphasised the significance of sealing qualification for the global showpiece.

“Qualifying for the World Cup is the most important thing to us, so I’m prepared for the qualifiers in September,” he said.

Asare also called on supporters to rally behind the team during the decisive campaign.

“I’m appealing to Ghanaians to support us to qualify,” he added.

The Black Stars will face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on Thursday, September 4, before returning to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8, 2025.

Ghana will wrap up their qualification journey in October with matches against Comoros and the Central African Republic.
