Otto Addo confident Black Stars will get better before World Cup start

-

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has expressed confidence that his squad will make significant strides ahead of next summer’s 2026 World Cup.

The reassurance comes after back-to-back losses during the November international window. Ghana fell 2-0 to Japan last Friday at the Toyota Stadium in Nagoya and were subsequently defeated by South Korea on Tuesday at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.

Speaking after the South Korea game, Addo acknowledged the setbacks but stressed that there is still ample time for improvement.

“For the World Cup, there are still some months for us to improve,” he said.

“Surely in all aspects – pressing, creating chances, and also preventing chances – there’s still room to improve, especially for Ghana.”

Reflecting on the recent opponents, Addo added: “I can’t speak too much about South Korea because, like I said, they did well today. But Japan is on a very high level.”

The Black Stars are scheduled to reconvene in March next year to continue preparations, with the 2026 World Cup group stage draw set for December 5.
