Black Stars head coach Otto Addo insists Ghana’s path to the 2026 FIFA World Cup remains firmly in their hands despite dropping points against Chad last week.
Ghana’s hopes of extending their winning streak were halted in N’Djamena on Thursday, where they were held to a 1-1 draw in their Matchday 7 clash.
The result leaves the Black Stars on top of Group I with 16 points, just one ahead of Comoros, who closed the gap with a 2-0 victory over the Central African Republic on Sunday.
With Mali due at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday for Matchday 8, Addo told reporters that Ghana’s objective has not shifted.
“The positive truth is that nothing and the status quo have not changed. Comoros have won their game, and they have gotten closer, but for us, nothing has changed,” the 48-year-old said.
“We want to beat Mali at home tomorrow, and that is what we expect to do. The only positive thing about Chad is that we still have it in our own hands, and we can decide our destiny, so we will put in everything to win against Mali,” he added.
The highly anticipated fixture kicks off at 19:00 GMT as Ghana continue their push for a fifth World Cup appearance.
