OSP searches SML’s offices in ongoing suspected corruption probe

-

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has conducted a court-ordered search at the offices of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML), as part of its ongoing investigation into the company’s controversial contract with the government.

The operation, which took place under the supervision of National Security personnel, was executed simultaneously at SML’s Osu and Tema offices in Accra.

Sources close to the investigation indicate that the OSP is in the advanced stages of its probe and is particularly focused on retrieving electronic data from the company’s servers.

This latest move comes amid challenges in the OSP’s effort to engage former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who has been sought for questioning over several transactions, including the SML deal.

The Special Prosecutor has since declared Mr. Ofori-Atta a fugitive from justice following what he described as the former minister’s persistent evasion of official summons.
