OSP detains Paul Adom-Otchere

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has detained former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere.

This follows hours of questioning by the OSP on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in connection with an ongoing investigation into a revenue assurance audit contract.

Adom News’ Kodwo Mensah Aboroampa, who was at the OSP’s office, reported that Mr. Adom-Otchere spent over three hours.

At 6:31 pm, he was whisked away by OSP officials as his lawyers followed them.

In a statement, the OSP noted that the broadcaster and two others were formally charged, but he has been unable to meet his bail conditions.

The two other persons are Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah- Group Executive, Commercial Services, GACL and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea- CEO of Devnest Systems.

According to the OSP, Mr. Adom-Otchere is required to present two landed properties (of no specific value) registered in his name.

However, he has informed the OSP that he does not own landed property in Ghana. As a result, he remains in custody until the bail terms are satisfied.

The OSP invited Mr. AMr. Adom-Otchere as part of a broader probe into alleged corruption and corruption-related offences linked to a contract between GACL and a private firm.

A letter dated July 25, 2025, identified Mr. Adom-Otchere as a suspect in the probe, which focuses on alleged corruption and related offences involving a deal between GACL and a private firm.

Reacting to the development in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM, Mr. Adom-Otchere described the invitation as politically motivated.

“I see this as a witch-hunt. I had no direct involvement in the signing of the contract under investigation,” he said.

He explained that the agreement in question was executed by GACL’s Managing Director, Yvonne Opare, adding that he was not even aware that the deal had been finalised.

Meanwhile, the OSP is yet to officially confirm his detention or provide details of the next steps in the case.
