The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has strengthened its investigative capacity with the completion of an ISO-standard forensic laboratory and four modern investigative interview rooms.
The approximately €700,000 project, funded by the European Union through GIZ, includes specialised forensic equipment, full facility installation and advanced technical training for OSP personnel.
According to the OSP, the new facilities will improve the quality and reliability of forensic examinations and investigative interviews while strengthening the scientific foundation of its investigations.
The Office said the investment will help preserve evidential integrity and support the delivery of credible justice in corruption-related cases.
The OSP noted that since its establishment, it has pursued its anti-corruption mandate through investigations, prosecutions, asset recovery and preventive measures aimed at protecting public resources.
It said its work also focuses on preventing systemic corruption through risk assessments and institutional reforms, which have contributed to savings for the state.
The Office further highlighted its Youth Against Corruption (YAC) programme, which promotes ethical leadership, accountability and responsible citizenship among young people.
The OSP described the support from the European Union and GIZ as a reflection of international confidence in Ghana’s anti-corruption efforts and commitment to strengthening the rule of law.
It reaffirmed its commitment to building a modern, professional and resilient institution capable of meeting international standards while effectively delivering on its mandate to serve Ghanaians.
