Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has suggested that recent developments at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) may be part of a political strategy aimed at discrediting the current NDC government.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr. Kpebu argued that Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, being an appointee of former President Nana Akufo-Addo, cannot be used as proof that the NDC administration is stifling free speech.
“Kissi Agyebeng is an Akufo-Addo appointee, so you can’t say government is criminalizing free speech. Maybe all these arrests are to make the NDC government unpopular because NPP appointees can do it to spite government,” he said.
His remarks come in the wake of his arrest on Wednesday, December 3, for allegedly obstructing an officer of the OSP. He was later granted bail, with conditions requiring landed property and one surety.
