The Opokua Ahwenee Foundation has donated essential hospital equipment to the Akwasiho Health Centre in a bid to enhance healthcare delivery in the Kwahu area.
The donation on Saturday, April 19, 2025, follows an earlier Adom News report highlighting the facility’s logistical challenges.
Subsequently, the founder of the Foundation and Adom FM/Adom TV journalist, Abena Opokua Ahwenee visited the centre and noticed an unfinished facility, whose construction had stalled due to a lack of funds, despite its potential to significantly improve healthcare services.
Presenting the items, Abena Opokua explained that the initiative forms part of the foundation’s broader mission to support health and education in the Kwahu communities.
“Our goal is to help bridge the gap in healthcare and education. We saw the need at Akwasiho Health Centre and responded with the necessary equipment.
“We also urge the staff to maintain the items properly so they can serve the community for a long time,” she stated.
Receiving the items on behalf of the health centre, Physician Assistant Hilda Korfiannor expressed her gratitude to both the Foundation and Adom News for their timely intervention.
She noted that the donated equipment would go a long way in addressing some of the facility’s critical challenges.
Korfiannor also used the opportunity to appeal for additional support, especially in the provision of delivery beds and expansion of the facility to better serve the growing population.
In a show of solidarity, some members of Kwahuman Europe were in attendance and pledged to help mobilise additional equipment for the health centre and to provide support in every possible way.
