President John Dramani Mahama has assured road users that the ongoing Accra–Kumasi dualisation project will continue uninterrupted, despite the government’s plan to construct a new expressway to the Ashanti Region.
During his second visit to the Ofankor–Nsawam Road rehabilitation site, the President expressed optimism that the 33-kilometre stretch, originally scheduled for completion in July 2026, could be finished as early as April 2026.
He praised the contractor for significant progress and noted that the government’s prompt payment of arrears has resolved earlier delays.
Mahama stressed that the existing Accra–Kumasi alignment will not be abandoned, adding that plans are well advanced to complete the Suhum–Kumasi section, which will link seamlessly with the Ofankor–Nsawam Road.
The President believes the accelerated work will ease congestion, enhance connectivity, and stimulate economic growth along one of Ghana’s busiest corridors.
