
A one-week-old baby boy has been found dead in a toilet pit at Ali, a suburb of Suhum in the Eastern Region.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, near Gateway Preparatory School. Rescuers from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station responded to a distress call at around 6:30 a.m.
An 11-member crew led by ASTNO Danso Henry arrived at the scene at 6:44 a.m. and, after a careful operation, retrieved the lifeless body of the infant at approximately 7:00 a.m.
Preliminary reports suggest that the act was allegedly committed by the baby’s mother, who fled the scene.
The body has been handed over to the police for further investigations.
The Ghana National Fire Service commended the Suhum rescue team for their swift response and professionalism in handling what has been described as a heartbreaking incident.
