A 9-year-old girl is in critical condition and receiving treatment at St. Gregory Hospital after a tree collapsed on her and two others at Buduburam in the Central Region.
The incident occurred while the victims—a pregnant woman and two children—were resting under the tree within their compound. The other two victims, including the expectant mother, are said to be in stable condition at the same hospital.
Speaking to Adom News, co-tenant Francisca Mawuko recounted that they were all seated under the tree when it unexpectedly came crashing down. While most of the residents managed to flee, the pregnant woman and the two children were unable to escape in time.
“All of them are currently receiving treatment at St. Gregory Hospital,” Mawuko confirmed.
The Assembly Member for Gomoa Buduburam Electoral Area, Emmanuel Dogbey, also told Adom News that due to the severity of the 9-year-old girl’s condition, arrangements are being made to transfer her to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for further care.
