The Obuasi West Municipal Education Director, Alfred George Koomson, has urged heads of schools to adopt innovative strategies to raise educational standards in their respective institutions.
He made the call at a send-off ceremony held in honour of Elizabeth Adoko Veriegh, the outgoing Headmistress of Kunka Nana Ponko M/A JHS in Obuasi.
Mr. Koomson praised Madam Veriegh for her remarkable leadership and contributions during her tenure, which, according to him, led to significant improvements in the school.
The ceremony drew traditional leaders, PTA members, and other key stakeholders from the education sector.
In an interview with Adom News, Mr. Koomson cited how Veriegh’s efforts attracted developmental projects such as the construction of classroom blocks by the Madanfo Ghana Foundation, a project facilitated through Adom News coverage.
He described her work as “commendable and inspiring,” urging other school leaders to emulate her example.
Elizabeth Adoko Veriegh also recounted her service, noting her personal contributions such as providing furniture for schools and championing infrastructural development at various postings.
She encouraged fellow school heads to accept postings across the country and commit to innovation, stressing that such initiatives could transform Ghana’s educational landscape.
