The Presiding Member for the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly, Alfred Ofosu Donkor, has been re-elected and is calling for urgent rehabilitation of internal roads to boost revenue mobilisation and development.
Speaking to Adom News after his re-election, he thanked Assembly Members for their continued confidence and pledged to work closely with relevant authorities to address key challenges facing the municipality.
Mr Ofosu Donkor noted that development in Obuasi East has lagged behind neighbouring areas, stressing the need to prioritise road projects, including the tarring of major internal roads, to enhance economic activity and increase local revenue.
Some Assembly Members also raised concerns about poor infrastructure and inadequate basic services, urging authorities and AngloGold Ashanti to support improvements in sanitation, water supply, and road conditions.
A defeated contestant in the election expressed support for the Presiding Member, calling for unity among members to move the Assembly’s work forward.
