The Obuasi Divisional Police Command has received a new power plant from AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) to strengthen security operations and ensure uninterrupted administrative work.

The donation, which includes an 80KV generator set with full installation valued at GH¢550,000, is aimed at improving operational efficiency at the command, particularly amid ongoing power supply challenges.

Speaking to Adom News correspondent Isaac K. Normanyo, Obuasi Divisional Police Commander Chief Superintendent Kwasi Boahene expressed gratitude to AngloGold Ashanti for the timely intervention. He noted that the power plant will enable officers to carry out administrative and operational duties around the clock without disruption.

He added that a reliable power supply will enhance coordination, improve response times, and strengthen the overall security framework within Obuasi.

Chief Superintendent Boahene also issued a stern warning to criminals, stressing that the police are fully prepared to deal decisively with anyone engaging in unlawful activities. He further appealed to the public to support the police by providing credible information on criminal hideouts to help maintain peace and safety in the area.

Senior Manager for Sustainability at AngloGold Ashanti, Edmund Oduro Adjei, explained that the donation is part of the company’s broader commitment to community development and security enhancement.

He noted that supporting security agencies is critical to protecting lives, property, and ensuring a safe environment for residents.

Mr. Oduro Adjei highlighted that the decision to provide the power plant was influenced by the country’s ongoing power supply challenges, stressing that uninterrupted electricity is essential for effective policing.

He expressed confidence that the new generator will significantly improve the operational capacity of the Obuasi Divisional Police Command and contribute to maintaining law and order in the municipality.
