A paternity dispute has sparked heated debate on the popular Obra Show on Nhyira Fm, as Robert Ocran, a man married for over 28 years with three children, demands a DNA test to confirm whether he is their biological father.
Robert revealed that due to challenges in the marriage, he fathered a child with another woman – a child who is now 14 years old.
According to him, he was compelled to present this child publicly after his wife’s family allegedly spread rumours that he is impotent and not the father of the children he raised.
He explained that both the family’s accusations and his wife’s recent unusual behaviour — including an incident where she returned home at 2 a.m. after going out to braid her hair — pushed him to seek the DNA test.
On the show, Robert admitted to cheating on his wife multiple times, justifying his actions by saying he suspected her of being unfaithful. “She once came home at 2 a.m. after braiding her hair. Since then, I’ve had strong doubts that any of the children are mine,” he stated.
In response, his wife admitted to coming home late that night but denied any wrongdoing. She revealed that shortly after their marriage, Robert was diagnosed of low sperm count, which led them to seek spiritual help.
According to her, she conceived after seeking spiritual help. However, her aunt — who initially introduced them to the church — allegedly became jealous and began sowing seeds of doubt in Robert’s mind about the children’s paternity.
She further accused Robert of bringing other women into their matrimonial home and sleeping with them, though she claims she never publicly complained.
Panel member, Gifty Donkor, popularly known as Big Mama, commented on the matter, observed “the woman’s family may have played a role in undermining the marriage.” She added the “considering the serious nature of the allegations against this woman, it is also difficult to completely dismiss the possibility that Robert may not be the biological father.”
Evangelist Degraft Addae also weighed in, criticizing Robert for his infidelity.
“I put it to you that you have disrespected your wife — you slept around, fathered a child outside the marriage, and now you’re embarrassing her over mere allegations from her family,” he said.
Robert admitted to the claim.
When Obra Show host, Ohemaa Benewaa, asked what he would do if the DNA results proved he is indeed the father, Robert responded, “My conscience will be cleared, and I will focus on the children’s future. I’m not requesting the DNA test to disgrace her — it’s what her family said that pushed me to this point. But if the results show I’m not the father, then I’ll know what to do.”
The emotional case has triggered widespread discussion, highlighting the devastating impact that mistrust and family interference can have on long-term marriages.
Ohemaa Benewaa adjourned the case, stating, “The DNA test is now expected to provide clarity — and possibly peace — to this embattled family. The show will resume when the test results are ready.”
