A man has dragged his wife before Nhyira FM’s Obra show, accusing her of having an affair with his best friend and insisting on a DNA test to confirm whether he is the biological father of their three-month-old baby.
The complainant, Owusu Isaac, told the Obra panel that he is no longer convinced the youngest of his four children is his, following suspicion that his wife had been in a secret sexual relationship with his close friend for an extended period.
The case was heard on the popular programme hosted by Ohemaa Benewa, with panel members Lady Gold, Evangelist de Graft Adai, and Gifty Donkor (Big Mama).
In his submission, Owusu explained that the issue came to light when his wife, during her pregnancy, confessed to having an intimate encounter with his friend and pleaded for forgiveness.
“She told me it happened once and that she was pressured. I forgave her because I wanted peace in my home,” he said.
According to him, the situation became unbearable when his wife later admitted that the affair did not end there, but continued for two additional years, even after the pregnancy.
“That was when I lost trust completely. This is my best friend. I never imagined such betrayal,” Owusu added, stressing that although he believes the first three children are his, he needs scientific proof for the last-born.
Responding to the allegations, the woman openly admitted on the Obra show that she indeed slept with her husband’s friend.
“Yes, I slept with his friend. I won’t deny it,” she stated.
She explained that her actions were driven by neglect and emotional abandonment in the marriage, accusing her husband of refusing to have sexual relations with her and failing to cater for the family’s basic needs.
“He doesn’t sleep with me, he doesn’t take care of me and the children. He goes out to enjoy with friends and comes home full without giving us money to cook,” she claimed.
The woman further revealed that the man accused of the affair had consistently supported her and the children when her husband allegedly failed to do so.
“That man was always there for us. He helped us when we needed help. That’s how everything started,” she explained.
Despite admitting to the affair, the woman maintained that she is confident the three-month-old baby belongs to her husband, insisting that the child was conceived within the marriage.
“Even though I slept with his friend, the baby is my husband’s. I am very sure,” she asserted.
In her remarks, show host Ohemaa Benewaa described the situation as a painful example of how neglect, betrayal, and silence can destroy both marriages and friendships, but condemned the woman’s actions.
“This case is not just about DNA; it is about responsibility, trust, and communication in marriage. Though the man did not do well, it is a bad practice for an African woman to sleep with another man while still married,” she said, adding that the final outcome would depend on the DNA results.
She urged couples to address marital issues early and warned against allowing third parties to fill emotional gaps in marriages, stressing that the consequences often affect innocent children the most.
