The long-awaited DNA results in the Ocran family saga have delivered a shocking twist: Robert Ocran, who has been married for over 28 years and raised four children with his wife, is not the biological father of two of them.
This revelation follows weeks of emotional confessions and heated debate aired on the popular Obra Show on Nhyira FM, where Robert first publicly demanded a paternity test.
He said he was compelled to do so after enduring years of suspicion and damaging comments from his wife’s family suggesting he is impotent.
“I really needed the DNA test because I strongly felt my wife had been unfaithful for a long time,” Robert said. “She goes to braid her hair and comes home at midnight.”
According to him, the situation intensified after he began receiving threatening calls from an unknown number, warning him ominously to “wait and see what will happen.”
The DNA results has confirmed that Robert is not the biological father of his eldest child—now about 30 years old—and his second-to-last born.
However, a 14-year-old child he fathered outside the marriage was confirmed to be biologically his, contradicting his wife’s claims that he was impotent.
Robert’s wife has since rejected the results and all allegations made against her but offered no concrete evidence to support her stance.
In response to the findings, she simply said, “I don’t believe these results.”
Earlier on the show, she explained that shortly after their marriage, Robert was diagnosed with a low sperm count, prompting them to seek spiritual intervention.
She claimed that it was only through that spiritual help that she was able to conceive. However, Robert maintains that his wife’s questionable behavior —like coming home at odd hours — and the persistent doubts raised by her family gave him reason to question the paternity of all four children.
The couple’s turbulent history was laid bare on Obra. Robert admitted to cheating multiple times, justifying it with suspicions of his wife’s own infidelity.
His wife, on the other hand, accused him of bringing other women into their matrimonial home, but said she remained silent out of respect for the marriage.
Commentators on the show offered mixed reactions. Gifty Donkor, popularly known as Big Mama, stated that the woman’s family may have played a role in undermining the relationship. “Considering the serious nature of the allegations, it’s difficult to completely dismiss Robert’s suspicions,” she said.
Evangelist Degraft Addae, however, criticized Robert for his infidelity and for publicly embarrassing his wife. “You disrespected your wife—you slept around, fathered a child outside the marriage, and now you’re humiliating her over family rumours,” he stated.
Before the results were announced, show host Ohemaa Benewaa had asked Robert what he hoped to gain from the DNA test. He responded, “My conscience will be cleared, and I’ll focus on the children’s future. I didn’t do this to disgrace her—it’s what her family said that pushed me to this point. But if the results show I’m not the father, then I’ll know what to do.”
Now that the truth is out, the emotional and legal repercussions for the Ocran family are just beginning.
Ohemaa Benewaa concluded, “This case is a painful reminder of what mistrust, infidelity, and external interference can do to a family. But more importantly, it shows the importance of seeking truth and resolution. Join us every weekday on The Obra Show on Nhyira FM, where real people share real stories—and sometimes, find real answers.”
With a calm but firm voice, she added, “Until tomorrow, this case is adjourned.”
