Former Deputy Minister of Education, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has sharply criticised the Ghana Education Service (GES) over its recent press statement on the 2025 WASSCE results, describing it as “propaganda” and demanding its immediate withdrawal.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Rev. Fordjour said he was “very disappointed” that the GES claimed the results reflected the true academic performance of students. He argued that the explanation offered raised serious concerns about the level of thinking and professionalism within the education sector.
“I was very disappointed in the GES statement… If this is the thinking of our Education Ministry, then it is worrying,” he said.
“What they wrote is a propaganda tool to respond to Dr. Adutwum’s claim. Whoever sanctioned the statement must be fired by now; he doesn’t deserve that position.”
Rev. Fordjour further cautioned that retaining such a statement could have long-term consequences, insisting that it undermines public confidence in Ghana’s examination system.
“If they don’t withdraw it, anytime results improve, people will say it is above the average strength of the Ghanaian student. It indicts the integrity of our examination,” he warned.
