The National Sports Authority (NSA) Board has directed Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah to annul the appointments of 17 staff members, citing breaches of established recruitment procedures.
The instruction followed a Board retreat held in Ada, where Mr. Ampofo Ankrah was reportedly given a deadline of February 6 to reverse the appointments. This marks the second time the Board has called on the Director General to rescind similar decisions.
Sources indicate that several of the newly created positions do not exist in the NSA’s official organisational structure, making the appointees ineligible for regularisation. There are also reports that some of the new staff hold influence surpassing that of existing deputy directors, fueling internal tensions within the authority.
The situation has reportedly strained relations between the Board and Mr. Ampofo Ankrah, who has been slow to comply with the directive.
The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, is expected to meet with both the Board and the Director General to mediate and resolve the ongoing dispute.
